Hi!

Enjoying the holidays?
I'm taking the time to enjoy an old habit of mine that the internet has kind of killed~
reading a book!
Now turning the pages of The Collector by John Fowles

Meditation is a movement in and out of the unknown. You are not there, only the movement. You are too pretty or too great for this movement. It has nothing behind or in front of it.It is that energy which thought-matter cannot touch. Thought is perversion, for it is the product of yesterday;it is caught in the toils of centuries and so is confused, unclear. Do what you will, the known cannot reach out for the unknown. Meditation is the dying to the known.

200 Cigarettes

200 Cigarettes is a fine piece of entertainment for this holiday season.
Besides the cast acting their asses off, it will leave you craving a night just like this.
Happy New Year!

Rae Dawn Chong

I thought Rae Dawn Chong was super awesome when I was a kid. She's a Canadian actress featured in many flicks from the late 80's and early 90's such as Beat Street, The Color Purple, Commando and also appearing in the original Melrose Place series. Yes, I will admit wanting to be like her. She was also featured as Mick Jaggers love interest for his video "Just another Night", which pretty much solidifies her as one hot bitch.

Odd Future are definitely the most interesting Black kids around these days.
They remind me of (my favorite rap group) the Wu Tang Clan even though they are straight outta LA, repping skate culture and humor belonging only to the blissful ignorance of youth. Watching clips of them had me nostalgic, this kind of energy and charisma has been missing from hip hop culture for a very long time. We're used to hearing rappers shoot for hit song after hit song, we don't get to see movements springing up and coming to life (the way rap culture did originally). I'm a little torn. I love the Odd Future as artists. I'm not so sure I'll appreciate their fan base lol........only one way to find out, catch the show!

Articulate!

I'll be the first to admit it. Articulation isn't one of my strengths as a vocalist, lol,
anyone who's worked with me can tell you that.
My heart and head has always been more interested in the passion and character of the delivery.
However, I do want everyone to know what I'm saying and not have to make up funny lyrics like when you were a kid and didn't understand the words, or in the 80s where the mixes were so artsy you couldn't quite hear. So I looked up a couple of articulation exercises on youtube and found this. If you don't need to practice your vowel sounds and consonants please watch anyways
this video is soooooooooo funny.

AUTOBIOGRAPHIA LITERIA

When I was a child
I played by myself in a
corner of the schoolyard
all alone.

I hated dolls and I
hated games, animals were
not friendly and birds
flew away.

If anyone was looking
for me I his behind a
tree and cried out "I am
an orphan."

And here I am, the
center of all beauty!
writing these poems!
Imagine!

Tentacle Building Installation

tentacle-building

(images via: FilthyLuker)

An artist calling himself ‘FilthyLuker’ installed inflatable octopus tentacles in the windows of an unnamed building in June of 2009, making it appear as if the building is being devoured by a bright green kraken that somehow emerged from the sea and got stuck inside.

Salcedo's Chair Building

This amazing art installation was made by Colombian sculptor Doris Salcedo for the International Istanbul Biennale in 2003. She used over 1,550 chairs stacked on an empty lot between two buildings.

Vegas Getaway

Pretty SinCity

Oboe is jet lagged

and Esthero rehearses a show for club Rain

I think about heading poolside

while Oboe orders room service

after her rehearsal Esthero plays slots for a bit

In the Evening around 10pm we head to club Rain.
The club is fully entertaining and packed for the Esthero/Snoop Dogg show.
I enjoy the acrobatic dancer who flips around til she lands safely in her bathtub.

Esthero hits the stage
I watch from the crowd and enjoy myself way too much to get a good picture

Then Snoop rocks the stage to close the night

twas a very fun day indeed!

Watch your thoughts, they become words.
Watch your words, they become actions.
Watch your actions, they become habits.
Watch your habits, they become your character.
Watch your character, it becomes your destiny.
